Lucy and I were riding in the back of the pickup when I spotted this bush and yelled "stop!" Joe stopped and we clambered up the hillside to look at it more closely. These buds are white, not pink, but it's interesting that the flower seems to be always white whether or not the bud is pink.
It's an interesting flower in that the anthers are spring-loaded to detach from the petal and spray out their pollen if disturbed. You can see them attached around the petals.
