still from KC .. a number of photos taken at the train station were intriguing to me.
Thanks for the visits; I'm back to the internet now and hope to visit your projects during lunch.
The Kansas City station is a wonderful old building. I'm so glad they saved and renovated it. For some time that beautiful cavernous space was broken up by some smaller walls plunked down in the middle. You could still look up and see the ceiling, but couldn't get a proper sense of the grand space from end to end, as I recall. I say this only having been in it a very few times, but I remember how disappointed I was. Then it was completely closed for more than a decade and almost demolished. Did you see any of what is offered inside or just waiting to take the train home?
@mcsiegle Yes, I went there specifically to see the bodies exhibit (plasticized human bodies), which I have wanted to see ever since it first opened in New York City a number of years ago. We finished early on the last day of work, so I had time to go down there and see it. It was AWESOME. I thought it would be vaguely gross since they were actual humans who donated their bodies to art/science. But it was not. Beyond fascinating. If you're close to KC and haven't seen it, by all means. I've never seen anything like it. (then I flew home the next day, though I wonder... maybe next year I could arrange to take the train! One goes to chicago, then another to KC might be quite doable and different). The building is fabulous. I was so focused on people, that I didn't take building pictures this year.
the boy wasn't alone, was he? he looks like one of those runaways in the books I've been reading. very nice capture of the ambience, puts me there, really.
