When I first went to work for the shipyard, I really had to put into place some accounting controls and audit trails that were sadly lacking, and they definitely have me grief about it. Fortunately, we were all able to come to an agreement that I was right (as if there was ever any questions about that!), and things flow much more smoothly now. One of the issues I had to address concerned one of our employees who would "exterminate" pigeons when they built nests in the hangars and became a nuisance. He was paid a fee per pigeon and would bring me a signed "receipt" from the president of the company so I could cut him a check. And so one day I had to ask the president how he could be sure that the employee had actually exterminated the number of pigeons he said he exterminated. And the president looked at me with all seriousness and said, "I make him bring me their feet."
Hahaha! I don't know if that was true or not, but I can tell you that I never asked for the audit trail on that one!!!
