Pre, definitely pre

Hmmm. Not a place of great beauty at the moment, rather a place of much required labor. This is my main vegetable patch masquerading as a wild weed patch. This picture was taken yesterday when only 3 ½ of the ten beds were cleared and turned for planting. Were the picture to have been taken today, there would be 4 ½ cleared. Yay me. I’ve commandeered Liam for three hours of work per day, but today was painting the dining room, not working in the garden. However, I got up early and Liam was still sleeping as our agreement was to start working at 10. So the morning energy went towards puttering in the garden. Starting at the left foreground you can see a couple rows of radishes. In the next bed back is a row of spinach, which may or may not be flourishing, and two rows of peas, which seem to be doing ok, but slowly. Then in the bed on the right is one row of green beans and two rows of red beets. The rightmost cleared bed is only about one third planted: two horizontal rows of swiss chard and one of lettuce. But the rest is empty as is the newly cleared bed is to the left of the spinach. Now I’m hesitating! I have seeds. We have some tomato plants started. The stores are full of vegetable plants started. But what, where, how many, when? For some plants, too early and they just sit there. For others, too late and they don’t get a good start. I’m sure I will hem and haw, decide and re-decide, plan and plan again, and, finally, I’ll throw all caution to the wind and just plant stuff anywhere I feel like planting it. The dining room is more or less done, so I think that tomorrow will be finishing up a few details, then putting the room back together and on to the HUGE task of moving furniture in the living room away from the walls so that we can paint in there. I can’t imagine that any painting will actually happen in that room tomorrow. However, tomorrow Liam’s chosen work time is not until 2 in the afternoon, so there will be plenty of time to putter around in the garden. Or perhaps to laze around reading a novel.
Lots of work done already but still lots to go. A good photo of the work in progress. Once everything is up and running you will be so proud of yourself for all you have accomplished. And you'll be able to enjoy the vegetables too
