Warning: gestation in progress

The snakey ropes snaking around the base of the plant are not snakes, but rather eggs, either toads or frogs, probably toads given the outrageous racket they’ve been making out there. Whichever it is, they’ve been busy as there are outrageous numbers of the eggs in the little pond. I tried to get a picture that included all the pond’s wonders in one picture: the waterfall, the fish, the frogs sunning themselves on the rocks, the yellow water iris that are blooming, and the egg ropes. But this is the best picture I got and, alas, it only shows the eggs. I wish one didn’t need to make such choices. Why couldn’t I have it all in one picture? Or in the day? Work in the garden and visit Maia’s new house, spend the morning reading and play many, many games of shikaku. That’s my current computer game, though I’m not quite sure why there always has to be one. No sooner, it seems, do I tire of one useless game, than another rises to take its place. But now that I think about it, I did have it all. And I even had time to wander the garden admiring frogs and flowers, just not the patience to get the picture that had it all.
Well you learn something new every day. I always thought that frog's eggs were laid in a globby pile.

Interesting! When our frogs laid eggs they were in a "sac" - it was like a soft pillow of eggs that obviously hatched to become tadpoles!

Ah the sounds of Spring.

I think you did a spectacular job of composing this image because there is a bit of the pond, and the flowers and of course the eggs. Actually a marvelous job of getting those eggs in there so nicely. Beautiful light makes it all come together

Well spotted! It is Toad spawn - frogs lay eggs in clumps, toads lay them in strings like this.
