Sunday night, this giant snapping turtle (giant being about 2 feet long) was up on the ridge in a field, probably laying eggs. My husband poked at it with a stick so she would open her pretty pink mouth. Then (after I had put the camera away out of the rain), he picked her up by the tail and escorted her to the side of the ridge we would like her to go -- not towards the ponds... I was sorry not to get a picture of her underbelly, which is not plated like a box turtle... mostly i was just amazed that anyone would dare pick up such a beast.
