@swilde I've been playing with different ways (and unfortunately can't remember one way that seemed to work great), but many including this one are done with a white layer (GIMP) that is set to saturation blend mode with different areas masked to reveal the color beneath -- that's how I can bring back a tiny bit of the color in rest of picture.
@barneyone Yes, the boys and their grandfather & uncle are building hunting shacks. They call them tree houses. I call them closets (but silently to myself). They're ok when they are just platforms with no sides and you can see in all directions, but with sides.... Oh well, this project means they're outdoors and not laying around on couches, so, more power to it.
