I suspect that it is quite a bit easier for a bicycle to navigate the Pittsburgh streets than it was for me. Though I am a supremely oriented person normally, I got quite turned around multiple times ... and when driving in a car, kept getting diverted onto highway type roads that seemed to inevitably lead to a bridge going out of town. (It wasn't really that bad, but...)
Pittsburgh can be complicated for sure, but there are a lot of steep hills where a bike could kill me. Last time my brother took my mom there to visit they used a talking gps and it really led them astray, I to a wrong way on a one way bridge.
