King's Cake by francoise

King's Cake

Every year I make a "couronne des rois" on Epiphany. Each section contains a small object for which a corresponding fortune has been written (on the card). This is the official end of the Christmas season. The tree is down. The boys even put away the boxes into the shed while I was at work. My fortune so far: 1. the hershey kiss = sweetness and love and 2. the acorn = strength and outdoor life. NOT BAD!!!!!
My mother ( who was born & raised in New Orleans) always mentioned the King's Cake.. but you've told me more bout it here than she ever did! What a lovely tradition!

I've seen lots of pictures of white and purple and green frisked king cakes, and I know whoever gets the baby should buy the next cake, but I've never had one. Your simpler looking, unfrosted version looks more appealing honestly

Is this the same as the King's cake at Mardi Gras? It sounds similar ! Very intriguing narrative and an excellent shot of the cake!
Terrific fortune and great to have Christmas put away! I also took mine down today but had no help.

I have not heard of this cake but it sounds like a good tradition. I have started to take down the Christmas decorations but none of them are in boxes yet. Good for you! Yummy shot!

Isn't this a little like the cakes the make for Mardi Gras with the baby Jesus hidden in them?
