Cupule by gaf005

Cupule

I spotted this acorn cap on my morning walk for a newspaper, lying in the middle of an urban path with no oak tree in sight. I picked it up on my way back, thinking it might make a good subject for a photo, and it has. I must admit I had to look up its name to find out that it is a 'cupule'. I presume the secondary cap's acorn never developed, hence its shape.
A photographer is always spotting interesting things to drag home! Great photo and I like it with the yellow background.
