Candelabra by gaf005

Candelabra

The blossom on this horse chestnut tree is so delicate and beautiful. Later in the year it will be laden with conkers. It's evident it has this name because when the leaves fall, the stalks leave a scar on the twig which resembles a horseshoe complete with nail holes (the conkers can also be ground and fed to horses as a remedy for coughs!).
Such beautiful, exotic blossoms!

Well I never, I didn’t know that about the horseshoe shape. The flowers look lovely.
