On a beautiful New Year's morning, having coffee and cakes with friends outside a cafe on the sea front, a seagull swooped down and hovered over us, very close, hoping to snatch our food. Once shooed away it flew onto the nearby roof, waiting for the next victim. I'm sure it was watching us too.
