The Scotsman's Stump. by gamelee

The Scotsman's Stump.

Scotsman's Stump lies just inside the Horwich Boundary, close to the summit of Winter Hill. It marks the spot where a young Scotsman was murdered. The plaque reads. "In memory of George Henderson traveller - Naitive of Annan Dumfrieshire - Who was barbarously murdered - On Rivington Moor - At noonday November 9th 1838 - In the 20th year of his age.
Great sky & pov Lee ,and what a memorial to this gruesome tale of murder ! You do find some interesting rural landmarks !!

I like how the stump takes precedence, yet the tower in the background and the sky both add interest. Fascinating story!

A remarkable memorial and a fabulous shot. The sky is stunning as is the field of grasses.

Great shot, but what an odd memorial (not for the event, but the object!)
