David Lindo, the broadcaster also known as “The Urban Birder”, is asking Britons to pick their favourite bird from a shortlist of 10 – including red kites, kingfishers and, of course, robin redbreasts.
Members of the public have until general election day on 7 May to choose which British bird they would like to see represent the country, with barn owls, blue tits, wrens and blackbirds also in the running.
So, come on you Brits and vote here. http://www.votenationalbird.com/#vote
Do you have a photo of your choice from the shortlist? Here's my vote, I just love the Blackbirds song.
Excellent shot. We have a lot of native birds that visit our garden on a regular basis, but I have 5 families of blackbird in the garden as well and they're fantastic birds...and they help with the gardening as they're certainly not shy!
I heard about this vote tonight while watching the news at six. I said to Harry I would vote for the blackbird...a common British garden bird that sings like a dream ...we have so many in our garden this year too. Thanks for the link too.
Exellent shot and choice Lee , the blackbird has a lovely song but really I do not know what I would vote for ! The blackbird is one of my favourites but also I love it when I spot a little wren in my garden !
Super! My dad would vote for the blackbird too. He feeds one at home and it even comes into the house looking for currants now. It will also, with encouragement, feed from his hand. He calls it Purky.
nice blackbird
Fab shot
