The Lane. by gamelee

The Lane.

If I don't go out for a walk I feel like I'm wasting a privilege.
No mention is given to how long we can exercise for. But a Cabinet Office minister has said: "I would have thought for most people a walk of up to an hour, a run of 30 minutes or a cycle ride of between that, depending on their level of fitness, is appropriate." Very much left open to interpretation.
It is a privilege -- both to have a place that safe to walk and to be able to walk it! Enjoy, and we benefit from the resulting image.

An hour is enough for me these days. I used to go for a days walk with friends once a month....a ramble really, we walked too slowly for me, that’s hard work but the company was great.
This looks a very nice walk between the stone walls & arched trees.

I feel the same, though I'm not getting out everyday. I did an 8 mile walk today, it took 4 hours partly because I'm a bit slower and heavier than usual at the moment and partly because someone's farm dog adopted us and wouldn't leave us alone so we ended up having to call the number on the tag before we got to a busier road and then wait nearly half an hour for the owner to come and collect !!

I didn't see many people at all and it was a walk done from home so I don't see how that could be considered too long... especially for a couple who often do walks that take all day! An hour isn't enough for me for sure, I need all the exercise I can get over the next few months!

I very much like your 'take' on walking during these strange times. I still try to get 60 miles each month (really only 2 miles a day). It is a needed bit of fresh air. This is sums up the current times very well, dark at the beginning, with a separation from others which must be walked through and of course the light at the end of this all. Fav.

Great b&w, I know exactly how you feel! I've been gardening today and hubby painting so we missed our walk :(

Nice leading lines in this shot. I know what you mean about the need to get out for a walk or to a bike ride. So far we can do that so I go everyday but I’m worried that there will soon be even more restrictions. So best to go while we can.

Terrific leading line, pov, composition

Super pov and shot - enjoy the fresh air and the ability to walk as long as you do it in isolation ! All I manage is a little ungainly toddle and pottering in the garden We all should be grateful of whatever we can do !

I am totally enjoying that privilege as well though I’m happy they are not yet, at least, limiting our time. I usually hike for at least 2 hours

Oh yes, definitely avail yourself of the opportunity for fresh air and exercise. Who knows what further restrictions will be upon us next week.

You go through a narrow tunnel, but there you can see the space. A great metaphor for the present.

Beautiful shot. Looks so deserted. Persons over 65 are on complete lockdown here. Many other restrictions for younger people though not always followed.

Yes, PLEASE let us not be prevented from going out for a walk! Lovely capture of this street with such beautiful stone walls.
