Geranium Pair by gardencat

Geranium Pair

Two flowers on the same geranium plant. These are small flowers maybe around the size of a nickel so it wasn't till I took a close up shot that I noticed the detail of their centers. I'm not sure why the centers are different...different stages? or is it possible that the plant has some male and some female flowers?
Beautiful shot, so elegant

When I think of geraniums I picture the deep red clustered flowers. I love the bottom flower with the star shaped stamen!

@tstb @skipt07 Thanks for the kind words.
These are 'real' geraniums Skip. The ones everyone thinks of as geraniums are actually Pelergoniums. They are both in the Geraniaceae family of plants but not the same. These ones are perennials where I live but, the big cluster flower ones are annuals and don't make it through the winter. I like perennials because I am cheap. :)

@gardencat -Thank you for the lesson. I'm glad we call them geraniums because I don't know if I can pronounce their real name :)
