Happy day here. I had my first blue heron sighting of the year.
I know that in some places, like Florida these herons are quite common and quite tame but in my area I've only ever seen this one that hangs out around our local pond. Ever since he (or she?) disappeared in the fall I've been waiting to see if he would make it back here. Today, for the first time this year, I caught sight of him in the reeds by the pond edge.
