Another one from a few days ago at the pond. Not the most riveting photo but an interesting confrontation to witness. There were quite a few geese and ducks in the general vicinity of this Great Blue Heron and he didn't seem too perturbed but at one point one Canada goose must have got a little closer than he liked and the heron went into aggressive posturing mode with his comb raised and his wings spread. The goose, although a bigger and heavier bird than the heron, hightailed it out of there. I guess attitude (and maybe that highly pointy beak) outweighs sheer weight.
Great shot, I've never seen herons doing this. I usually glance them in fishing silhouette and as I get closer them flapping of. I love how it's using it wings to increase it's size
