Desperately searching for subjects

I was roaming the backyard looking for anything to photograph when I found this bit of fluff clinging to a dried out vine. I purposely used a shallow DOF to isolate it from the background but I wish I had paid more attention and noticed the dark bar of fence in the background. While the DOF mutes the details I find the band of dark distracting.

I like the band of bark as it blends in with the stem which has two colours ... We photographers are sometimes too harsh on ourselves ...
