The tones of this picture seem to speak of fall, more than spring, but indeed this little seedling is a sign of spring and a hope for the future. I have a few different varieties of peony in this part of the garden so a little seedling like this could be a hybrid of any of them. Of course, even if it does survive, it will be a few years before it is ready to produce flowers, a sort of lesson in hope and patience.
