Seville White Dove by gardencat

Seville White Dove

The story goes that, during the 1929 exposition in Seville, thousands of white doves were released. Over the years, they have interbred with the local population of doves (pigeons?) and now there are more white pigeons, or white mixed with other colours, here than in most cities where the pigeon populations tend to darker colours. Not sure of the biology involved here (do doves interbreed with pigeons?) but in the parks we certainly saw more white birds than in the other cities we visited.
