This is a clematis that I planted several year ago. It was never a vigorous grower for me but last year it had a very tough time, competing with the climbing hydrangea that my neighbour planted on the other side of the chainlink fence. I thought I had lost it but, early this spring, I noticed a tiny shoot that looked like it was trying to b a clematis so, I pamper it a bit, clearing out some foliage from a nearby bush to let in more sun and taking special care to water it during our recent dry spell. My reward came this week in the form of these two, bright pink, flowers which show up nicely against the dark hydrangea foliage.
