These guys are really good at standing just in front of the pond-side reeds or bushes and just blending into them but, coming up from behind this one, I could see his shape against the water. Still couldn't get a clear shot here but enough to show what he is.

The fact that you have some plants covering some of the subject makes the image realistic. Too many photographers (including me) have to get the perfect photo where the subject fills the frame and has nothing blocking the view. Some (not me) even resort to photoshoping twigs and reeds out of the picture.
In my opinion, the more realistic the image is, the better.

I think this heron is beautiful just as it is - I agree with Steve Jacob’s comment. That little white flower there makes the photograph all the more interesting. Just lovely!
This is a fabulous shot. I'm impressed to see that you have managed to get the heron in focus, if it was me the greenery in the foreground would be in focus, not the heron. Well done. Fav.
