He was sitting low in the silk lilac tree, in front of one of the few bushes that still has green leaves on it. The starting photo for this was not as crisp as I would have liked, due to the low light conditions and length of the lens but, those cardinals always look bright and cheerful, especially at this time of year when there is not much other colour in the garden.
