I'll Take This One...

The birds, especially the larger ones, like the jays and cardinals, love it when I put seeds out on the flat stone wall. Unfortunately I don't do it very often, anymore, since the local bylaws prohibit feeding 'wildlife'. Birds are excepted but putting seeds in the open, like this, always attracts many other critters.
Wonderful capture

Such a wonderful looking bird - rather harsh not being able to feed the wild-birds like this ! I am sure the birds are grateful of little feedings like this in the harsh weather ! fav

@beryl I can put seeds out in proper bird feeders, which I do, but just scattering them like this is frowned upon. And you are supposed to clean up under the feeders if seeds spill, which they always do. I never get a chance to clean them up because the birds, or rabbits, or racoons, always seem to get there first.

@gardencat - Such ceremonious rules ! Some birds do not do well with bird feeders! I have feeders but also a flat bed bird table - for what I call the " big bird table" which keep the bigger birds happy !

Beautiful capture of the Jay. Our neighborhood has a similar law because most of the bird type feeders attract the rats.

Nice catch! Seems like nature is proving that you can put seeds out and it won't be a public health concern!
