Once again this year my clump of white phlox has presented my with a couple of fuchsia flowers. Looking at them closely, however you can see little flecks of white showing in spots. I'm reminded of Alice and Wonderland and painting the roses red and wonder if some little creatures have painted this fuchsia and the paint is flaking off in spots. :D
A stunning purple with the dark background (and as Sue mentioned, this is even more stunning on black!) Your theory of the creatures painting the flowers reminded me of a story that was in the local news recently. Did you catch the story of a guy who had all his gnomes stolen from his garden, but then they were returned by the person who had taken it upon themselves to repaint the gnomes to freshen them up? :-)
@gardencat Hi Joanne. I was mistaken to refer to this as a local news story (but it had a local feel to it). It happened in Kelowna, BC. The "painters" belong to the Gnome Restoration Society. I've included a link to the story. Quite charming! :-) https://www.cbc.ca/radio/asithappens/garden-gnomes-restored-1.7258752

Love the way your phlox sparkles.
