@skipt07 You're totally right, they are teasels not actually reeds. Both grow in the same area near me so I tend to lump them together. I've added to the title of the photo to correct the labeling. Thanks for pointing it out.

@gardencat - I wasn't trying to be picky. I took a picture of some of these last year and called them thistles.

I try to be accurate so as not to contribute to the mis- information on the web, but had a thoughtless moment when posting that shot and I'm glad you caught it.I won't be getting the reed picture up today though, since I have a couple of pictures I got yesterday that I'm kind of excited to post.
