What a precious capture! The bird is posed in the perfect place, with none of the bars blocking the view of its face. Love all the falling snowflakes you captured as well.
@jyokota I got mine at Winners/Homesense which I think is owned by the same company as your TJ Maxx. I’ve had it for several years now. I originally planned to put a potted plant in it but then got the idea to see if the birds would go in for seeds. I found a metal plate that just fit inside to put the seeds on. I can take the plate out to wash if it gets too grungy. The only problem I see with the one you linked is that it has a raised edge around the bottom. I think the birds usually start by reaching in from the edge to get seeds then, gradually get tempted to go in further to reach more and eventually go right in. I’m not sure if that raised edge would make it harder for them. If you have squirrels around they will almost certainly find a way to get in or at least get the seeds out. They are cunning and determined little devils.
@gardencat --
thank you! I have a bird feeder that's shaped a bit like a cage, and smaller birds get inside to eat. But this morning I found one of the baby squirrels INSIDE! Must go measure my current cage, too. http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2020-06-11
Joanne -- where did you get this bird cage and how can I find one?
