Fallen Leaf Lake by gardenfolk

Fallen Leaf Lake

Looking out over the lake I felt enveloped in the most peaceful loving utopia.

We just returned from a few days in the Lake Tahoe area. It is looking beautiful with all the mountains covered in snow and the lakes full to capacity again. This is another breathtaking lake that made me think I was transported to Switzerland, though I have never been. A hidden gem! Fallen Leaf Lake is 415 feet at its deepest point.
The Northern side of the lake has a gradual depth change and the bottom can be seen from the surface for a quarter mile off shore.

The water is so clear. Is it called Fallen Leaf Lake because the pebbles at the bottom look like leaves? Beautiful place!!

@gigiflower Thank you Sam! When you come over the hill and see this place, it stops you in your tracks! It is peaceful, hidden and so beautiful! Lake Tahoe is gorgeous as well but it is more populated, being the star attraction!

@ddw Sooooo pretty! It felt like our own oasis. We decided to drive around one side of the lake and that is where we also discovered the Glen Alpine Falls...what a day! Thanks Dana!

Just gorgeous! And it's what I always loved about the Tahoe area....the spring-fed freezing cold lake water that was brilliantly clear!

@Weezilou I loved this lake because it was off the beaten path and when you go over the little hill and come across it, you feel like its all for you! So peaceful, so serene so magical...until Memorial weekend and the camp grounds are all booked up! Before that, May is the best month to visit! The snowmelt, the lakes, the rivers and waterfalls are in full glor,y if there has been a good snow!

@Weezilou Why is there no edit button for typos?!?
