Reveal

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. ...Anais Nin

Blossoms of the agapanthus appear in clusters at the tip of blooming stems. The blooms are held within a tight green bract to protect them from damage. As they mature, the bracts pull back to reveal many small violet blue buds. These then bloom in succession, starting at the bottom and working their way up.
