@pistache Clare, as much as I love animals, I was about as far away from a cat person as you could possibly be! I grew up highly allergic and stayed away from cats my entire life. However, almost 2 years ago this cat came into my life, a pregnant stray, and stole my heart. Something changed in me and I brought her and her kitten into our home. My intention was to help them out and then find them both forever homes. But, after spending three months with them, I bonded with the mama cat and fell in love with her. It changed my life. I also learned I was no longer allergic and she was kind to my little dog so I was able to keep her permanently.
Thank you so much for the comments and favs. I cannot help but take photos of Katniss. She is such a sweetheart and her eyes are expressive and colorful.
@suzanne234 Suzanne... The young couple that took Panda, Katniss’ kitten, did stay in contact for a few months and sent me photos. I was hoping they would stay in contact with me longer but you know 20 something’s have their own lives. On a sad note, the feral baby daddy of Panda was struck by a car during the summer. The car never slowed down or stopped...it was horrible! He was a tuxedo cat, like Panda, who got frightened and ran in the street… It was heartbreaking. Fear won. My neighbor tried to alert the car to no avail. I was in tears just hearing about it and glad I did not see it happen...so very sad.
@casablanca Thank you! You are too kind! Of course, I do agree with you but I have seen some other stunning kitties with pools of blue eyes and fantastic markings. But, Katniss is MY kitty, my first kitty, my sweet heart. I wouldn’t trade her for the winner of a top cat show! And, can you believe she was abandoned and left behind by a family moved?
@gardenfolk Oh that's so sad. I would love a cat, but would be so scared it would get on the road. I have to make do with my sons two cats which I look after when they are away, happily they are house cats so I don't worry about them :)
@suzanne234 Suzanne...I am a worrier/fearful and I don’t want anything to happen to Katniss. I try to honor her need for outdoor time with keeping her safe. She loves to climb our trees and walk along the fence. She and Sophie play chase and they get exercise outdoors. I will not leave the house until Katniss is safely indoors and she also comes in by dark. Luckily she does enjoy our yard and seems to stay close to home, even though she knows the area. Katniss is good about coming home when I call her as well.
