Dark Night by gardenfolk

Dark Night

Every storm
runs out of rain
just like every
dark night
turns into day.
...Gary Allan

Well, we had another whopper of a storm last night and discovered another part of our backyard fence is damaged and open. So now, Sophie cannot use the backyard until it's fixed. It is the wind that seems to cause most of the damage now that our roof is new and water tight. The weather report said we were in for an atmospheric river which I have never heard of. Have you? There is an avalanche warning in the sierras too.

The other bummer is that my husband has 2 cracked ribs. He thought he might have bruised them last week while lunging/reaching back in his car for something. The X-ray showed otherwise. And, it's only two weeks into the new year. I guess I might need to start over again and again until things look up.

Beautiful image! Never heard of an atmospheric river before! My husband thought he had pulled a muscle on his ribs while changing the oil in his car but had two cracked ribs turns out it was a blood cancer 😥 worth checking because as it was caught early it's 5 years on an he is still doing ok.. Probably unlikely but the doctor said if there was no impact you don't just break ribs and talking to countless people broken ribs seems to be the first sign. Hope it's a simple fix (rest and painkillers) and he gets better soon x

@ulla Oh my! Thank you so much for this information. My husband has an appt. tomorrow and I will have him ask the doctor. Yikes! I am glad your husband is doing well.

What a definite moody sky color - must have been some storm.

@gardenfolk I hate comparing because it may be nothing.. but it's worth checking unfortunately many primary doctors don't know to look out for it... My husband was given anti inflammatory meds for 6 months before he was x-rayed and then they tested his para protein levels in his blood which were high.

What a dramatic sky, and sounds like you’re in for some more. Hope it is just a simple case of cracked ribs
January 18th, 2019
Love those colours so dramatic and atmospheric. Hope hubbie recovers after his over stretch.
Sometimes things just don’t start right, we started last year with both our cars being stolen after some scumbag broke in and rooted through all our units and found our car keys while we were no more than a few feet from him and never heard a thing! One was never found and the other was written off an hour after it was stolen. We wanted to start the year again too!!

Ooh dear what a start to your year ! With all the storm damage and worse of all your Hubby's misfortune in cracking his ribs - I hope he will soon feel better - A wonderful image the purple hues gives an ominous and treating sky

January 19th, 2019
Oh my that my sky does look ominous and I have never heard of atmospheric river. So sorry about your husband ouch !
January 19th, 2019
I dislocated a rib once. Can’t hardly breathe with that. Hope he is better soon. Lovely photo from the storm. When the big drought ended in a very big way, they called that an atmospheric river.
January 19th, 2019
i like the use of empty space !

Gorgeous! Fav

The good thing about storms is that they eventually blow on through. I truly hope yours is about to blow out to sea! Broken ribs are really painful. Jeff cradked several many years ago now but I can still remember how labored his breathing was because of them. I like your processing here- it fits the storm motif!
January 20th, 2019
Hope the fence gets fixed soon and prayers for your husband's quick healing and recovery.
January 21st, 2019
@joysabin Thanks so much, Joy! My husband was able to fix one of the fences yesterday, in between rainstorms...looks great! :) He was a little sore afterwards but OK.

@ulla My husband went to a doctor and he laughed when my husband asked to be tested. He was even due for blood tests anyway and it would have been an easy test to add. We pay $2170.37 a month for health coverage. I would have insisted but my husband let it go. :(
