Be where you are,
not where you think
you should be.
Live in the moment. The pandemic is still creating havoc and we all wish it would go away. But today is still today. Don't waste it. Make the most of every day and what you can still do. Tomorrow is not a given.
Katniss is standing on our back patio, covered from dismantled old beehive kiln bricks. We bought the used bricks and my husband installed them every weekend, which took a year. I did a lot of the mortar work. Some bricks are marked with Ione, an old town from the California Gold Rush. Others are marked Amador, which is a county in the Sierra Nevada. There are a few bricks marked Keystone, which may have been the name of a brick company or it is the name for a capstone, as some bricks are shaped differently In a wedge. The names make the patio and walkway unique/one of a kind and part of an interesting California history we can enjoy in our own backyard.
Beautiful... both Katniss and your patio. The tones in the bricks and the story behind them... not to mention the labor of love... are incredible. Thanks for the words of wisdom... well spoken. Fav
