An annular solar eclipse occurred on October 14, 2023. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between earth and the sun, thereby totally or partly obscuring the image of the sun for the viewer on earth.
This was taken by my son on his iPhone in California while I was on a trip in Ohio. I thought it was taken with his telescope but it was not.
Glad I have been gone while another war has begun. I do not like war and I cannot take all the coverage 24/7. It takes a toll on my emotional, spiritual, mental and physical health. Travel is a good distraction from reality.
What a fabulous shot! Maybe your son would like to join this group, Cathee (?) Yes, I sure know what you mean about the heavy toll inflicted by the news. The world feels very dark. I'm glad you have a way to stay well- in all ways. xx
@365projectorgheatherb Thank you, Heather. My son has a wife, 3 young boys, a 95 pound dog and a 12 hour a day job, 4 days a week. I was surprised he had the time to capture this shot! Ha!Ha!

Since the beginning of human existence, we have not been looking for an agreement, but a fight. Now the news spreads faster and that makes it seem worse. Man is a nasty animal.
It really saddens my heart to see so many innocent people and children dying because of their imaginary friends in the sky. Surely we should have grown out of this nonsense by now. 😒
@haskar I agree. The news spreads like wildfire. Not only local news but world news. It is all too much and overwhelming. And war is big business at human loss.
It breaks my heart beyond repair that the slaughtered families in Israel hadn't been away to have some distractions. Those who were away at the music festival didn't even have the distractions there that they had hoped for. I can't imagine the horror and PTSD that will have infused the souls of the spared.
@Weezilou It breaks my heart as well. War is horrible. It is unspeakable and tragic. But, I have to protect the way it affects my body, mind, soul and spirit. Getting sick over the atrocities does not help me, my family or anyone else. It is what it is and I cannot change the devastating outcome or profound effect war has upon life and death.
