On Monday, I had a colonoscopy. It was supposed to be a 7:30am check-in. They called me in at 8:10am and the doctor didn't show up for my procedure until almost 9am. How could he be "behind" schedule already? It gave me too much time to wait and think about it.
The facility was very nice and the nurses were sweet and cheerful. Unfortunately, I did not care for the assigned doctor. He found and removed one small polyp but "lost" it so it cannot be checked by the lab. He also complained that my colon was "twisty." Twisty? What does he expect 28 feet of intestines to be? A straight line??? Maybe this isn't the job for him?
Anyway, when it was over, my husband bought me a bag of mandarins being sold outside the hospital and I ate some in the car on the way home. So delicious! He also stopped at my favorite doughnut shop and bought two doughnuts. They are $3 each now!
When back home, I immediately fell asleep on the sofa (sitting up...for 3 hours) with Sophie by my side. She woke me up to go outside, then we moved to the bed and we slept another 3 hours!!! Katniss joined us. Then my husband brought home a veggie pizza for dinner.
Glad that is over but it was recommended I get another one in five years.
You are fully spot on on describing your day! I hate when they recommend this be done in another 5 years as one can't help but focus on it on the calendar as the years pass! And then there's the sleeping away the rest of the day when it's over...
I know the feeling. Luckily at my last one, I was able to nap during the wait. Warm blanket, up half the night, early call. The worst (the prep) was over.
