“When one door of happiness closes, another opens, but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one that has been opened for us.”
Helen Keller
Grief is difficult, finding a way of believing in the future is really difficult and believing that you can be happy again is nigh on impossible!! Why? because we shut down….bereavement makes you shut down emotions to protect your heart – funny because it is at that point when you are probably in the most need of love in your life.
We can be walking around wishing, hoping that this pain will get easier….but in doing so we risk walking around with our eyes wide shut….we may look as though we are living but in reality we may be breathing and not living. We steadily move from protecting ourselves, to harming yourself. Loneliness erodes self confidence.
To find happiness in the future we must realise that it can exist but that we need to be open to finding it…if you broke your leg you wouldn’t say that you would never walk again once you had recovered….and a broken heart is similar.
Are your eyes wide open or are your eyes wide shut…..I think mine are slightly open but I know that I need to find the strength to start to look forward for those ‘happiness doors’ which I know are out there….I may not be ready to knock but I will try and be ready to recognise them…
very interesting. & spooky. cool commentary and wonderful thoughts. love the Helen Keller quote.
speaking of spooky, t i have to tell you that redgamer saw a public service announcement tonight about how a drunk driver hit a college girl and she had to have 40 surgeries to try to repair her burned and broken body. one of her eyes literally looked like your photoshopped ones and she was such a beautiful girl before the accident. it took a long time to calm him down enough to sleep. don't know why i am rambling on except that it's fresh on my mind and really spooked my little boy. yikes.
ok, here's to good times ahead for all of us! cheers!
The Helen Keller quote is nice, but your words are powerful on this shot.
If you do feel like that, I hope you can find your door open very fast, and believe or not, even with your eyes closed you still can find the right door, you'll feel it when it is right.
Great shot!
"In order to ensure the material involving Saburido that was used in an ad campaign by the Texas Department of Transportation could also be used in schools, the videos and photos taken of her involved the use of soft lighting to improve her appearance and consultation with child psychologists to ensure the material, although graphic, would not frighten children." umm ... well, i still had a petrified child
"Regarding her life after the accident, Saburido stated that she has never given up: 'If a person stumbles, he must pick himself up and keep going. I believe this is very important; if not, life would not have much sense.'" She is amazing!
"Oprah Winfrey has called Saburido the one person she had met who defined 'inner beauty' and that she is 'a woman who defines survival.'"
Saburido stated about the drunk driver who hit her (after he served his prison sentence): "I don't hate him, I don't feel bad because he's out, he can reconstruct his life again."
powerful photo & commentary Jaydee. Not sure if you are grieving someone right now, if so my thoughts are with you...but judging by this entry, you are on the path to healing. Hope all is well!
