I just learned something "NEW" today ....
"Think first before you do something"
People do stupid things when they are unable to control their emotions. You might say the wrong words, buy the wrong things, make the wrong business decisions or even do something you're not supposed to do. These actions might not seem obvious at first, but the effects will start to show sooner or later. And you might live to regret those actions next time.
That's why it is important to always maintain calm, analyze the situation, think carefully and make the right decision. What are the impacts or results by doing this or saying that? Will the effect be negative and make you regret? What are the other things which might get affected by this action of yours? Who and what might get affected by this action of yours?
I know that some of you might say this is too troublesome, and to do whatever that seems fit based on your feelings. Even the Nike ad is saying "Just do it!" but I beg to differ. "Just do it!" is perfectly fine in a Utopian world. Unfortunately, we're not living in such a world. The actions that we choose or the words that we say, might actually affect others more than we wanted them to.
So, slow down a little, think it through, plan properly and take the appropriate actions. The last thing you want to do is to repair the damage done by your hastily-made decisions.

For Rotary, The Four-Way Test is the cornerstone of all action. It has been for years, and it will be in the future. Of the things we think, say or do
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
So, start doing that now - think first before you do something.
