As the end of summer nears, I know the hummingbirds will soon be migrating so I spent some time enjoying their antics. Once in a while, the sun would catch this ruby-throated fellow's neck, making him look like he was dressed up for dinner with his bow tie. As I was looking for a quote for the day, I came across an inspiring video from 2012 by Kenyan environmental activist Wangari Maathai called "I Will Be a Hummingbird: the Inspiration of One". Its message, "Do the Best You Can", seems appropriate In the face of the world’s global problems.
Your hummingbird picture is so pretty with the handsome fellow's wings fully extended and his bright throat glowing in the sunlight. I've enjoy the hummingbird pictures here on 365 as I don't have any that visit my yard regularly.
Love how the light caught this little guy's neck - they are so pretty. I keep having a problem getting enough light to get my speed fast enough - our big pecan tree has created shade where we used to have sun! You were able to get nice detail here.
