Another photo of the Community Bookshelf in Kansas City, Missouri, USA
"The Community Bookshelf [Central Library Parking Garage] is a striking feature of Kansas City's downtown. It runs along the south wall of the Central Library's parking garage on 10th Street between Wyandotte Street and Baltimore Avenue. The book spines, which measure approximately 25 feet by 9 feet, are made of signboard mylar. The shelf showcases 22 titles reflecting a wide variety of reading interests as suggested by Kansas City readers and then selected by The Kansas City Public Library Board of Trustees."
This structure routinely appears on the email list of UNIQUE BUILDINGS IN THE WORLD. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kansas_City_Public_Library
That would be why we missed it. We were only in downtown a few times, mostly to go to the steamboat museum at that market place. Another cool area. That's such a cool building.
@homeschoolmom We went to the Pirate exhibition at Union Station sponsored by National Geographic and this building was about a mile north. The road construction everywhere made it challenging to get to, especially with the one-way streets and closed roads. I chaperoned a school trip to the Arabia museum at the City Market about twenty years ago. Very interesting exhibit and Pirates was similar.
