If you look closely (enlarge it will help) the pelican has his own fishing line! The man beside him was quite amused with the pelican's antics. I was pleased to be there at the right time!
The cute bird is just hanging out with the gang :) I hope he stays safe - I know they can easily get fish hooks through their bills when they do this. There is a dock in Naples (Florida) where the pelicans have learned to come to humans for help when this happens. The dock has instructions posted on how to help them.
