My brother arrived today to prune my 3 apple trees that have not been pruned for 5 years. (I moved here 10 months ago) You may remember this brother as the one in his nightshirt in his library 2 weeks ago! He is a horticulturist and author of many garden books - organic gardening, tomatoes, apples, grafting, etc etc. His name is Allen Gilbert if any one is interested.
@oldjosh Thanks. He prunes his way that's for sure. He is going to graft more varieties of apples onto the back tree he really cut down! @gigiflower Thanks Sam, glad you recognized him! @terryliv Thanks Terry - should have told him to wear shorts!! @hermann Yes Sally, lots of apples hopefully - but I did get a lot this year too. @peterlgrave So where do you live Peter? Allen now lives in Ballarat.
@plumpy Thanks Wendy :) @anazad511 Thanks Ana :) @tellefella Very handy brother! Yes it was lovely day :) When do you head home? Off to Melb tomorrow for daughter's footy grandfinal :) @ianrm Thanks Ian. he is a very talented man in all aspects of horticulture :) @darthkitty Thanks Kat. I'm hoping for beautiful apples next year - just have to spray them now as directed as they have some fungi and aphids!
Great to have a handy Brother, I have one as well, but the problem is he keeps forgetting he promises to do something, I've waited a month for a dripping tap to be repaired. Nice collage, can I borrow him.
This is lovely, and nice to know about his professional vocation. I have a friend in Sydney who is a landscape architect; I'll send her this link; I think she may enjoy reading about Allen. Thanks for sharing these photos!
@seattlite@tosee@thistle@denisefuller@barbarajdonnellan Thanks all for kind words about my kind brother :) @ladymagpie Thanks Heather - yes you can borrow him, you just might have to come over and get him first :) @pyrrhula Interestingly Allen first started working on a local orchard where he would ride his bike out to daily - -many years ago!! @Weezilou Thanks Louise.
