Sooc - Spent the day in Geelong with my sister with the idea of photographing the Christmas tree as well as shopping! Well it rained all day! Trying to photograph a silver tree with a grey sky and water looked like a B/W photo hence I added the life saver statues for colour :) The tree is 25 mt tall and is the first floating Christmas tree in Australia. At night it puts on a beautiful light show every half hour, but unfortunately on a grey day it really doesn't look very spectacular!
This is really neat - love the floating tree - what a shame you got hit with such a yucky day - grey skies do nothing when you're trying to get a picture (that's my problem today). These little life saver statues are fantastic - what a clever idea.
I think those "life savers" really make the photo. Oh, dear, I see one of them has a black eye! It's raining here, too -- Los Angeles -- but you are braver than I. I resorted to the office balcony for photos today.
You can't keep a good photographer down I can see that now!
Many of us are having the same problem and it's weather related...
I do like your shot a lot and hopefully I will learn from you to be just as resourceful ....
Great idea to add the life savers, I would never have guessed they were added after, you've done it really well. The tree sounds interesting but a pity the weather wasn't co-operating
@paulaw Hi Paula - the lifesavers weren't added after! They were on the foreshore so I walked around them to include in the photo because it was so grey :) And the weather still hasn't improved at all.
