The only other thing on the beach today... by gilbertwood

The only other thing on the beach today...

...besides me! The clouds are finally clearing but the wind is blowing madly! Two bluebottle jellyfish (or called Portuguese man o' war everywhere else) Top right I think is a Jelly Blubber, and I'm not sure of the bottom left one :)
Great detail and texture contrasts

Lovely detail, esp. the bluebottles against the sand. Perhaps the mystery one is a moon jellyfish. Several years ago a beach where I sometimes walk had hundreds of them washed up - a very strange sight.

@essafel Thanks Sally. I read about the moon jellyfish and thought maybe...but wasn't sure!

Fascinating to look at. wouldn't they all be happier back in the water? Or are they ok washed up on the beach too.

Very cool captures. Always so tempting to poke squidgy things, but best not to with them i guess. Great collage. :)

Never seen the blue ones before. I bet it was nice to have the beach to yourself ... It's a shame that it only happens when the weather isn't so good.

You had some interesting and colorful company on the beach.

@francoise Pretty sure they were dead, but wasn't going to touch them! Don't think they can survive out of water for long.
@darthkitty No poking Kat. Think they might spurt out :)
@junep So true June - only by myself when it's cold :)
@susiemc I agree Sue - we learn so much on this site! Only Australians call them blue bottles :)
