I was a bit excited today as I wandered on another different beach area and found 2 oyster catchers which I started photographing, when they were photobombed by this tiny plover! It is the first time I have ever seen this bird on the beach! He is tiny and runs more than flies across the sand. He stops briefly, pops his head up high, then runs off again :)
Beautiful close-up, especially because they are so jittery. If there is a nest nearby (it will be on the ground), they will run around like that to draw the threat (you) away from it.
How exciting to spot (and photograph) a new type of bird. Bet watching his movements was a real delight. The sand and seaweed made a lovely foreground color palette for this picture.
He's sooooooooooo cute! What outstanding details you captured and the photo is so clear!! Isn't it exciting when you find something new or something you just hadn't photographed before? I get like a little kid in a candy store!!! FAV!!
