My sister is going to art classes with Kathryn Weatherly in Port Fairy every Monday. Kathryn does "quirky" art work so Yvonne asked her if she would paint the photo of us with our brollies at her son's wedding. I posted that photo in April. This is the end result which is a great interpretation of the photo! I took this photo today as Kathryn handed over the painting :)
@Cherrill Thanks Cherrill. yes it is a very special memento of my nephews wedding and the 7 of us 'girls" who have been friends for over 30 years! I'm also doing a "brolly" shot a month for 365 with these girls :) That sequence of paintings at the back are beautiful and their is a handmade 3D ladybird in each one! Kathryn has just sold them :)
Fabulous shot and fabulous painting too. I remember your photo back in April and this is a great interpretation of it. You must be so pleased with the result.
I love this painting and story. I saw on Facebook this morning a post that brought this photo to mind: "My friends don't go crazy. They are crazy. They go normal from time to time." It was accompanied by a drawing of a few women dancing together for joy.
@Cherrill This is inside Kathryn's workshop and it is also open to the public. She also knits, paints on silk and can combine all crafts in one creation! She has a facebook page which this painting is a feature now! She lives in Port Fairy which is 20 minutes from my town Warrnambool in the s/w corner of Vic, Australia - at the end of the Great Ocean Road :) @cejaanderson yes Jane - we ARE crazy! And we love it :) Sadly one of the girls has incurable cancer so everything is so special to all of us. @craftymeg You are right - it would make a great card :) We are thinking of photographing it and creating canvas prints for all the other girls. Kathryn has given permission for us to do what we like with it :) @cashew My sister is certainly the artist one in the family. While she has her 2 hour lessons I wander around Port Fairy (which is a very pretty village) looking for my photo for the day, and there is no shortage of great places :)
@gilbertwood I think you have really touched a lot of people with your picture here. Sadly I shall not get to your friends shop......air ticket required! lol
