Interesting fact - there are no koalas in Tasmania and there are no fossils either! Therefore koalas have never inhabited Tasmania. So after the party weekend we had to take Catherine (Yvonne's friend from Tassy) to Tower Hill to find a koala in the wild for her - and we did :)
One of the things that I really like about the 365 project is that one gets to see life around the world as people like me see it. What some would see as ordinary or common place is extraordinary and a treat for others to see. Very nice photo of this little guy.
How cool! Do you find them in the wild easily? or is like us and the owls where you have to be hyper aware and vigilant? How wonderful either way!!! Fav again!
OMG. That is to die for. FAV. I love koala bears. He is so cute, sleeping in his eucalyptus tree. They always look so cuddly, but I hear they can be quite aggressive and will bite. True that?
@pej I so agree Paul, as I love seeing squirrels, hummingbirds, otters etc that we don't have here :) @ladymagpie I'll package one up and send it by air :) @elatedpixie They're not always easy to spot, but I've been doing it a long time now so can find them! i did have a resident one on my farm years ago so that was good practice every day :) @jamibann They are actually quite placid really but in mating season the male can get aggressive. I had one on the farm once that scratched wildly at the back door, then the front door (both glass) and I certainly wasn't going to let him inside! But i did take a photo :) @soccergirl1112 We have a nature reserve close by where some live, but they are free to roam and leave the area :) @terryliv Yes, I had a resident koala on the farm where I lived (she adopted us) and every day I would look for her to find her - and the three babies she had over the time. So I've had lots of practice :)
