A Warrnambool view by gilbertwood

A Warrnambool view

Walked down to the Maritime Village which is at the end of my street today. This is one of the many views looking across Lady Bay to the breakwater. A camping ground is on the foreshore too. I think this year I will share many of the icons of Warrnambool to tempt you to travel down the Great Ocean Road to us at the end :)
Wow, what a beautiful place. I may just have to make my way down your way during my visit with sights like this!

What a beautiful sea view! Every time when I see a light house, I have to think of "To the Lighthouse", a 1927 novel by Virginia Woolf. The novel centres on the Ramsays and their visits to the Isle of Skye in Scotland between 1910 and 1920. It's one of my favourite books.

Great view, I'd love to do the Great Ocean Road again.
January 4th, 2016
Great part of the world. It's good to see that - at least here - you avoided the bushfires.
January 4th, 2016
Very nice composition. We are getting our second bit of snow this morning where I live. Makes wanting to travel here all the more of a temptation.

January 4th, 2016
Very nice composition and I like the pop of red from the roof of the lighthouse.

Who amongst us wouldn't LOVE to visit here! A visit and 365 gathering would be amazing! For a start, we'll have to ask Ron @stray_shooter to document his visit...and before that, to share with us/me where-when-why! I'd love to see his fully documented visit!
January 4th, 2016
Very nice shot.

Great capture of that beautiful scene.

@gijsje I can't remember if I have read this, but I certainly will put it on my list this year! Thanks for the lovely comments :)
@sketch2 Thanks Dave. Yes we are safe this end, but it's been devastating for the central part around Lorne - the road is still closed down there.
@cejaanderson Thanks for your kind words Jane - hopefully I can tempt you to come over for a visit :)
@ladymagpie Thanks Heather :) yes we have sunshine but the wind is awful at the moment - can't take the camera to the beach because of all the sand blowing into the camera!
@julzmaioro You won't recognise me Julia - I'm only there for a fleeting second!!
@Weezilou i would love it if Ron @stray_shooter could visit here - but he will be in Queensland which is a long, long way away :) But I too would love a 365 meet up!
@susiemc Keep saving Sue! I have a spare room :)

@Weezilou @gilbertwood I can definitely do a blog during my trip down under. I often take on such projects - it adds a certain quality to the trip when you're thinking about material to present to other people. And I seem to be some sort of oddball magnet. Crazy people just seem to gravitate towards me during such excursions (and I'm sure there's no shortage of such candidates in Oz). Denise, I do have to fly out of Sydney at the conclusion of my trip, so running down to "the bottom" might just be doable!

January 5th, 2016
Beautiful scene with the red roofed lighthouse and trees against the blue of the sea and sky. Seeing all the photos you have posted of it , I would like to traverse the Great Ocean Road but it is a bit far fro Nottingham and I don't drive
