Warrnambool Wednesday - Speedway

My inspiration is waning a bit at the moment so I have decided to introduce some of Warrnambool's (my home town) iconic landmarks. This one is the Premier Speedway built alongside the highway, which hosts many sprintcar events over summer including the World Series. It brings 1000's of people to Warrnambool.

There is a big raceway about an hour from us. You can always tell when there is a big race going on as the highway traffic gets backed up for miles! I like how even from this distance you can see the crowd in the bleachers.

Can I ask where on earth does the name Warrnambool come from, it must have something related to the aborigines.
