This is a copperhead snake in the wild at Tower Hill. A snake was on my list of animal/birds that I have yet not photographed - in the wild of course. I've looked many times, but to no avail, but yesterday I saw a man looking at something - so asked him what and where, and here it is! I would never have seen it without his help :)
@maggiemae@sangwann@judithdeacon@mona65 Thanks everyone - thought I'd better clear up some facts! Yes it is dangerous, but I was up on a walkway with my big lens! Also the guy who was watching it actually has pet snakes and is a snake catcher too, so I felt quite safe - he actually pointed out 3 different ones and i would never have seen any of them tucked away in grass/rocks.
I've only ever seen three snakes in the wild since we moved to Australia over 30 years ago. One was a diamond python, another was a red bellied black snake and the third was an olive green python. I didn't have a camera with me any of the times either.
