Death Of A Tree

This tree had stood there for as long as I can remember and I’ve lived here since 1978. Yesterday workmen cut it down, presumably to make way for the new houses which are going to be built on the right hand side.

There are also plans for 45 new houses and a Lidl store on the other side of the road.

Such a shame. I guess that even if it had a preservation order on it the developers would have got around it somehow.

I always find it sad to see well-established trees being cut down to make way for buildings. A good way to document social change.
